These are pear cupcakes with almond ginger buttercream. I mixed finely chopped candied ginger into the buttercream, and garnished each cupcake with a strip of candied ginger. There is almond extract in the icing and in the cakes.
These cakes are pretty moist, I'm guessing from all the liquid released by the pears when they cooked. Very good though, I love the almond/pear/ginger combination. It's reminiscent of my Pear Almond Tart, as a matter of fact.
