Fajitas and Turtles!

Tonight for supper I made skirt steak (duh) fajitas with toasted Pepita salsa. Ricky loves this meal, and so do I, because it is so easy and so delicious! I served everything up on a large wooden board, and we just assembled our own fajitas at the table. Yum!

Pepita Salsa (no measurements, because real cooks don't use 'em!)
Tomatoes
Red Onion
White Onion
Fresh Garlic
Salt & Pepper
Hulled Pepitas (pumpkin seeds), toasted for about 8 minutes at 350 degrees
Fresh Cilantro

Yesterday it was raining pretty heavily for most of the day. Ricky let both of the dogs out, and they ran to the side of the yard and started barking madly at the ground. Upon further inspection, he found a small and angry turtle sitting in our lawn! He scooped the hissing critter up in a towel and took him around front to get him back into the lake. He was pretty cute, albeit frightening.

Here is another picture of Maggie Mae sleeping in her bed. She doesn't sleep in the kennel anymore, and she loves it. Look at how her tongue is hanging out! So cute!

  1. Yea, that's a snapping turtle, luckily a tiny one (for now). They bite. Hard.

A good way to get rid of them when on a larger scale: Hold a hefty stick up to his mouth and let him bite down, then drag him to where you'd like him to go, lol...
