I miss home.

I miss the mountains. The evergreens. The lakes, rivers, and the Pacific. I miss the smell of tree bark and wet, dark earth. I miss the deer the size of cattle and the beautiful gray skies. I miss the absence of humidity. I miss the most agreeable climate I've experienced in the world. Seriously, I've been to lots of places in the US and in Europe and it has yet to be rivaled.
I miss the ferry, the zoo, Rustin Way, and Owen's Beach.
Shi Shi Beach. Mt. St. Helens. Deception Pass. Mt. Rainier. Olympic National Park.
I miss squirrels everywhere you look.
I miss I5 and the 405.
I miss Seattle, Tacoma, and Lakewood.
Tumwater Falls. Clam digging. Ivar's clam chowder.
Pike Place Market.
Sockeye and Coho!
Satellite Beach.
I miss the beautiful scenery, beautiful people, and beautiful history.
Wah wah wah.
(i wish i could source all these photos, suffice to say that I just googled "washington state" and these were my favorites)

  1. I always hated Florida, all 17 years of it! And now, because of your lyrical post, I know it was all because of the lack of wet, dark Earth. NorthEast represent! Hahah!

  2. I miss the Pac NW too, but am glad we get to go back once a year...this year we'll go twice. Yay!
