This is the paperwork they sent me home from the ER with. It lets me know that if my wound begins to smell foul, to come back.
Because that isn't a given? I don't know...

The new Khan to my Kirk.
Alright, a quick recap. Yesterday I was prepping potatoes for dinner on my mandoline. I got careless, looked away, shifted my hand without thinking, and didn't shift it back before I started my next slice. Of my right middle finger. What an embarrassing wound for someone who cooks as much as I do! All I kept thinking was "rookie mistake!"

It bled like crazy, so Ricky took me to the ER. We spent 4.5 (ugh) hours there. They didn't give me sutures, they said that they would have to remove my fingernail for that. Sick! So now I'm covered in Dermabond. My right hand hurts and is difficult to type with. I can't get it soaking wet, so showering is going to be fun. On top of that, my left arm is stiff and sore, because of the gloriousness that is a tetanus vaccination.
One of many Nissa blood soaked paper towels. Ha.
Bad picture. The cut went all the way around to about halfway into my nail and nail bed. I'm just glad the slice wasn't completed! Ah! Stumpy finger!

I am suddenly very aware of how sharp all my knives are...
Oooh, I wish I hadn't looked for this post. My knees have gone completely weak at the sight of your finger and the blood. Ack! Hope it heals well and fast!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it sucked big time.
