A bunch of random things

Before I write about cute things, let me tell you about my car.
It is not well.
I started it this morning to go to work and it started going "kagunga kagunga" and flashing an engine light at me.
What. The. Hell.
Needless to say I couldn't go to work today, which sucks. Ricky had to leave work to come home, look at it, and we had to take it in to an auto shop. So far the estimate to fix my poor little VW Golf is $1100. On top of that, it has to be fixed fast, since Ricky leaves for NM in 7 days, a trip that he is taking his car on with him.
Stupid German cars.

Anyways.
I've been wanting this cake stand from Sur La Table for almost... a year? Yeah, a year. I don't know why I haven't bought it. I should have.
That is, until it showed up because Ricky knew I liked it and so he got it for me in secret! Sweetness ♥

I filled out, addressed, stamped, and mailed about 30 Christmas cards today. I don't mind all the writing, it's fun to think of nice things to say, and I love to use my address stamp.

While out Christmas shopping at Pizzaz in Gulf Breeze, I found this darling little clutch wallet. It's by Spartina, and it's linen and leather. It's big enough to stand in for a purse for nights out, and practical enough to use everyday. At first I thought it looked like a something that an old lady would carry, but I've decided that I love it.
Let's see, what else...
Oh, okay, last night my brain was fried, and I couldn't think of anything to make for dinner.
Yes, it happens sometimes.
We had baked chicken breasts (R's was coated in buffalo sauce and breaded, mine just had olive oil, lemon juice, and Italian seasoning) along with baked potatoes and a nice mixed greens salad with tomatoes and red bell pepper. I could literally eat a baked potato for every meal of the day. I should do it for a year and write a book, hahaha.
I miss Maastricht! That glorious city in the Netherlands was the only place I've seen an Oil and Vinegar, the most fabulous store in the world! I'm glad Ricky and I stocked up on Dipper blends before we left Europe.
Today for lunch I made myself a nice Caprese salad. It made me happy.
Really though, tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh herbs, salt, olive oil... does food get better than this?
