Clean

What did you do today?
I had the day off, and I spent it doing things that needed doing.
I made a tasty little lunch of buckwheat somen noodles in vegetable broth with egg, with some soy, garlic, ginger, and dots of Sriracha.
I sweep my floors daily, and mop once a week. That might sound like a lot of cleaning, but with three pets it makes sense. Sometimes, however, they need a little extra love. Today I filled a bucket with hot water and Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose Cleaner (Lemon Verbena mixed with Lavender) and scrubbed my floors Cinderella-style. Hands and knees, with a scrubby brush. It was laborious, but worth it.
I also laundered and pressed my bed sheets! This is one of my favorite chores, I love love love to iron.
I sprayed them with a little of my new Bath and Body Works Lemongrass Cardamom pillow mist. It was a good idea.
Another helpful hint: I iron my pillow cases on the ironing board, and the border of my flat sheet. For the rest of the sheet, I wait until my sheets are on my bed and then run the hot iron over them. It's faster, and in my opinion more effective.
No one should have to sleep on unpressed sheets.
A word on linen spray:
Linen spray is probably one of my most beloved cleaning/laundry products. It gives your linens a little something special, and is wonderful for a guest bed (and of course your own) and clothing.
You can buy linen spray, Caldrea has some great scents, but you can also make your own very simply.

Mrs. Powell's Linen Spray
2 tbsp isopropyl alcohol or vodka
Distilled water
1 tsp lavender essential oil
1/2 tsp bergamot essential oil
Combine all ingredients in a 32 ounce spray bottle. Shake well before each use.
Some other great combinations for oils:
Lemon and Sweet Basil
Vanilla and Sandalwood
Eucalyptus and Mint
Ginger and Citrus
Just Rosewater

Shriracha is the asian hot sauce with the rooster on it, you use it, in fact it's Nick's favorite I believe.
